BOXING

Cinderella Man: Director Ron Howard said in an interview: I didn't know much about boxing before 'Cinderella Man,' and yet I got the late, great Angelo Dundee to come in and be our technical advisor and start talking about the science, the psychology of it, and finding ways to convey that cinematically, get it across to the audience, whether it's music, side effects, camera speeds.

Eleanor of Aquitaine [1122? - 1204], Queen of Louis VII of France from 1137 to 1152. Later she married Henry of Anjou, who became the English King Henry II. Her second marriage, which transferred her estates of Aquitaine to English power, caused war between France and England for many years. Richard the Lionhearted was one of her sons.

Movie: THE LION IN WINTER stars Katharine Hepburn as Eleanor and Peter O'Toole as Henry II. Richard the Lionhearted is played by Anthony Hopkins. See Early Heraldry and Katharine Hepburn.

The Age of Chivalry - Early Heraldry

Quest for the Holy Grail Tapestries
The Arming and Departure of the Knights Tapestry by Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris
Burne-Jones was prominent in the revival of applying the medieval arts, which was led by William Morris, a friend from Oxford days. With Morris, Burne-Jones collaborated on stained-glass windows, mosaics and tapestries, including The Arming and Departure of the Knights. Full size tapestry here - Detail of tapestry here.

Sir Henry Rider Haggard KBE (22 June 1856 – 14 May 1925), was a prolific writer of adventure novels set in exotic locations, predominantly Africa, where Haggard had spent some time as secretary to the governor of Natal. He familiarized himself with the traditions of every country he visited, including the Zulu culture in Africa.
He studied law on his return to England from South Africa, but soon decided that writing popular fiction was more pleasant and profitable. He was also involved in agricultural reform around the British Empire and contributed significantly to the body of knowledge on the subject during his lifetime.
Haggard was immersed in the European atmosphere of the psychic revolution that was responsible for the infusion of Eastern mystics and metaphysics at the pedestrian level. He is an influential storyteller to this day, a founder of the Lost World literary genre, and source for many popular action-pack films made for television and the silver screen.
His most successful novel was She: A History of Adventure (1887). Queen Ayesha, a near-immortal, became a household name to whom Freud would refer to in his The Interpretation of Dreams and Jung would later also mention. Haggard's Queen Ayesha is an unmistakable anima type - the ultimate guide and mediator to the inner world – perhaps suggestive of Kore-Persephone, a psychopompus (soul guide) of ancient mystery drama. The idea has also connections with the views presented in James Frazer's classical study The Golden Bough. She is followed by two sequels, Ayesha (1905) and Wisdom's Daughter (1923).

Allan Quatermain is Haggard’s protagonist in King Solomon’s Mines (1885), and the Allan Quatermain Series (1887). Quatermain is one of the quintessential Victorian English gentlemen of his day who travelled the world (the old fashioned way) in search of lost and hidden prizes concealed behind an overgrown wall, inside a tree, or under the surface of the ground where one is standing. It is all awaiting discovery.
Actors who play hunter-explorer Allan Quatermain on screen are featured here.

I am well aware of the toil, and blood, and treasure, that it will cost us to maintain this declaration, and support and defend these states. Yet, through all the gloom, I can see the rays of light and glory; I can see that the end is more than worth all the means, and that posterity will triumph.

John Adams, letter to Abigail Adams, July 3, 1776

NATIONAL TREASURE

Diane Kruger [Abigail Chase] stars with Nicolas Cage [Ben Gates] and Justin Bartha
[Riley Poole] in action adventures about a family of treasure hunters who are successful
uncovering clues so they can track each of the hidden prizes!

Fifty-six individuals from each of the original 13 colonies participated in the Second Continental Congress and signed the Declaration of Independence.
Eighteen of the signers were merchants or businessmen, 14 were farmers, and four were doctors. Forty-two signers had served in their colonial legislatures. Twenty-two were lawyers--although William Hooper of North Carolina was "disbarred" when he spoke out against the Crown--and nine were judges. Stephen Hopkins had been Governor of Rhode Island.

Coruscant
is the shimmering city-planet, site of the Jedi Temple and Galactic Senate, where Queen Amidala felt she could win support for her people of Naboo.
Coruscant is home planet to the most evolved [Jedi Knights] but is also a center of activity for the most easily coerced who deal in graft and corruption. Entities such as the Trade Federation and the Commerce Guild hold incredible sway over the inner workings of Coruscant politics.

Coruscant is the city-planet of paradoxes, with complex launch platforms designed to continue the ongoing spiritual integrity of the galaxy, even as political manipulations ensure that corporations can operate without profit-stunting restrictions. It is universally understood that whoever controls Coruscant controls the galaxy.
