Jackie Robinson
DOB January 31, 1919 at 6:30 PM in Cairo, Georgia

Sun 11° Aquarius 06' and Moon 11° Aquarius 51'
Ascendant 28° Leo 35' and Midheaven 25° Taurus 47'
Destiny Path: Birthpath 7

Jack Roosevelt "Jackie" Robinson became the first African-American major league baseball player when the Brooklyn Dodgers brought him onto the diamond on April 15, 1947. Branch Rickey had scouts check Robinson out when he played for the Kansas City Monarchs in 1945, after his discharge from the Army. He played shortstop and had a batting average of .387. In his first game with the Dodgers he went 0 for 3 against the Boston Braves.

Jackie Robinson has the royal marriage in his star chart down to the nano-second with Sun 11° Aquarius 06’ and Moon 11° Aquarius 51’. Aquarius is the sign of modernization, the new and revolutionary improvements we continually add and update that constitute quality of life. Robinson had surgery on his right ankle [Aquarius] during his 1948 season with the Dodgers, at a pivotal time in his personal star line up. Jupiter went direct and his Lunar and Saturn Returns were operating, in effect, as a brief prep for his decision to seek advice from a mentor in Spring of '49. Robinson's batting coach [Jupiter] would be Hall of Famer George Sisler, then working as an advisor to the Dodgers. At Sisler's suggestion, Robinson spent hours at a batting tee, learning to hit the ball to right field. Sisler taught Robinson to anticipate a fastball, on the theory that it is easier to subsequently adjust to a slower curveball. Robinson also noted that, "Sisler showed me how to stop lunging, how to check my swing until the last fraction of a second". During June, 1949 Robinson enjoyed a powerful Pisces stellium his 7th house, with Venus in Aries [June 22, 1949] and won the 1949 Most Valuable Player award for the National League. He was leading the league with a .342 batting average and 37 stolen bases.

The Ascendant is conjunct the royal star, Leo alpha Regulus @ 28° Leo 35’, a powerful augury for the renown, prosperous, and straight arrow. Additionally, Robinson packed a ‘secret weapon’ and hidden strength. Saturn is the great engineer who will move those in obscurity up the ladder into the public domain. Saturn, deposited in his Ascendant, follows the lifestyle advice of the Christ: be wise as the serpent and gentle as the dove. Saturn is the Lord of Time but in the case of Robinson, Saturn is more than perfect timing, he is a vessel of golden silence.

Branch Rickey was looking for a man who knew the key to success in his own character. There are four power points to a successful name, and a secret fifth that is concealed within the four. They are: To Know, To Dare, To Will, To Be Silent, and the fifth, To Go Forth.

When Rickey signed Jackie Robinson he gave sound advice about the racial atmosphere in the ballpark at the time. Robinson was well acquainted with racial problems in close quarters. During WWII, Robinson had been a second lieutenant in the United States Army with what would later become the first black tank unit to see combat [the 761st "Black Panthers" Tank Battalion] and he ran headlong into racial discrimination. Robinson's attitude during the military harassment case not only presaged his breaking of the color line in baseball, but some think that he may have influenced, however indirectly, President Harry S. Truman’s decision to integrate U.S. Armed forces in 1948.

Rickey secured a promise of silence from Robinson, during his first year with the Dodgers, so he settled in to professional sports without a grotesque whitebread incident. Rickey was the general manager of the Dodgers and so symbolized Saturn [male authority] in Robinson’s chart, just as the military brass, who defended Robinson during a racial discrimination question in the Army, represent Saturn. Robinson’s own discipline, loyalty, and determination to remain true to his word is well documented as evidence of the developed Saturn character.

Robinson was on six World Series teams, earned six consecutive All-Star Game nominations, and was elected to the Major League Baseball All-Century Team. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. He is known as an extraordinary sportsman in any collection of athletes, professional and Olympic. No other player since World War I has stolen home more than Robinson, who did it 19 times in his career. In 2000, he ranked number 44 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Baseball Players. On June 4, 1972, the Dodgers retired Jackie Robinson team number 42. April 15, 1979, all MLB teams retired Number 42, across the board, in honor of Jackie Robinson.

Some other well known people with the royal marriage in Aquarius: Claire Bloom, Ernest Borgnine, Christie Brinkley, Joe Garagiola, Gene Hackman, Sherman Hemsley, Brandon Lee, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Leslie Nielsen, Nick Nolte, Jack Palance, Francois Truffaut, Bess Truman, and Lana Turner
