Francis Ford Coppola is a five-time Academy Award winning film director, producer, and screenwriter. Coppola is also a vintner, magazine publisher, and hotelier. He earned an M.F.A. in film directing from the UCLA Film School. Coppola brought the popular musical, Finian's Rainbow from stage to silver screen in 1968. He met USC film student George Lucas on the set and the rest, as they say, is history. Coppola was the executive producer for THX 1138 in 1971. He produced George Lucas's breakthrough film, American Graffiti in 1973.
Following the tremendous success of The Godfather [1972] and The Godfather Part II [1974], Coppola launched his titanic 1979 project, Apocalypse Now [director, writer & producer.] This epic war film is regarded by many as a masterpiece of the New Hollywood era. Roger Ebert considers it to be the finest film on the Vietnam war and included it on his list for the 2002 Sight and Sound poll for the greatest movie of all time. more information @ Marlon Brando.
In 1986 Coppola, with George Lucas, directed the Michael Jackson film for Disney theme parks, Captain Eo, which at the time was the most expensive film per minute ever made. George Lucas has stated that Francis Ford Coppola was the inspiration for Han Solo.

Beyond Star Wars
What’s Next for George Lucas
The Wired Interview
By Kevin Kelly and Paula Parisi
With today’s tech, says Lucas, there’s nothing to stop two guys in a garage from making a film like THX-1138.
What have you changed in the reissued Star Wars films? Have you created new characters in The Empire Strikes Back?
There was a snow monster you didn’t really see. It was just shadows and sounds; we always wanted the creature but were never able to accomplish it. Now we actually have a creature there. We have a lot of new shots in Cloud City to make it be bigger and look better. And the snow sequence was one of those state-of-the-art things at the time – doing white mattes on a white surface, which nobody had ever accomplished. Now, with digital, we can do that much better. In Jedi, there was a sequence in Jabba’s palace that was meant to be a musical number. But it ended up just a little tiny thing with this dancer, Ula, that was maybe 15 seconds long. Now we’ve turned that into about a minute and a half. There’s a bigger band and backup singers. It is what it was meant to be originally; we just didn’t have the wherewithal to do it then.
You take visual notes and some of them – rewritten or not - eventually become part of your film.
The important thing, something Francis [Coppola] taught me, is to go through and do a lot of different layers. He said, "Look, when you write a script, just go as fast as you can. Just get it done. Don’t ever read what you’ve written. Try to get it done in a week or two, then go back and fix it, and then go back through as fast as you can, and then go back and fix it – you just keep fixing it. But if you try to make each page perfect, you’ll never get beyond page 10."

Harrison Ford has the Royal Marriage in his Star Chart [Sun conjunct Moon w/i 3 degrees of perfect] in his Midheaven with the sign Libra ascending.
The Midheaven and 10th Department of Life are the same. The Sun at this high point of the chart casts no shadow: success is generally steady, popularity expands continually, and honors are likely. The Sun in this place often adds the image of the hero, role model, and spokesperson. The conjunction with the Moon generates trust, good vitality, and the tendency to stick to high moral standards. Loyalty, oaths, and vows are governed by the two lights [Sun and Moon] that are both physical eyes in many eastern systems.
In political terms, this arrangement tends to concentrate on matters that pertain to The Bill of Rights, often concerned with both domestic and foreign policy.
Libra on the Ascendant helps to describe a cordial person with a deep love of justice, neatness and order. There may be a love of daring do in the heavenly quadrants, but that is accompanied by a natural aversion to the belief in a hazard universe. Good mental abilities, keen sense of perception with foresight and good artistic imagination.
Joseph Campbell, born March 26, 1904 at 7:25 PM in White Plains, New York,
was born with his Moon [like Harrison Ford] in the 10th House [in the Sign of the Sun] in trine aspect [luck, good health, beneficial] with his exalted Sun, his Mercury [6° Aries 03'], and Jupiter [6° Aries 13']. Aries is the fire sign of the "I AM" keyword.
Mars is usually considered the planet of the hero archetype, why-when-how you take action, and personal opinion; in Campbell’s star chart Mars is deposited at 21° Aries 59', in the Sun sign of his radix star chart. Heroes were important to Campbell because, to him, they conveyed universal truths about one's personal self-discovery and self-transcendence, one's role in society, and the relation between the two. His Venus is exalted in 9° Pisces 00', as perfectly pictured by his wife, Jean Erdman Campbell, Dancer-Choreographer.
Joseph Campbell's 20° Libra 48' Ascendant, and his Midheaven at 24° Cancer 21' also match the Ascendant and Midheaven of Harrison Ford. It seems likely Campbell's description of the hero triggered a connection between Han Solo, space outlaw turned hero and actor Harrison Ford, in the mind of George Lucas.
Campbell’s works, based on a comparative study of the mythologies of mankind, should be on every metaphysical bookshelf worth its salt, next to Carl G. Jung’s masterwork, Man and His Symbols.
Recommended: The Power of Myth, [online @ Mystic Fire] the six part documentary made in support of the PBS network in 1988 by Joseph Campbell and Bill Moyers at Skywalker Ranch. Check both the book and CD set at Joseph Campbell Foundation, your local library, or bookstore.
Bill Moyers was born June 5, 1934 at 11:15 PM in Hugo, OK with a perfect Grand Air Trine in his star chart. His Sun at 14° Gemini 49' is trine his 12° Aquarius 50' Ascendant conjunct his North Node at 13° Aquarius 18', and they trine his Jupiter in Libra 13° 18' in the house of research, initiation, and transfiguration.
Grand Air Trine topics and examples can be enjoyed fully by viewers who watch Moyers' Journal, a weekly report on current events that airs Friday night on PBS. Moyers unique interview [or extended discussion] with Joseph Campbell may have clicked with public interest at the time because of the [only] three planets Moyers has above the horizon: Neptune in the 7th Dept. of Life [generally referred to as the home of 'the hero's journey'], Jupiter in the 8th Dept. of Life, and Juno in the 11th Dept. of Life. In the west, Jupiter and Juno are the two physical eyes – Neptune and/or Pallas Athena is the third [mystical] eye that can discern a spiritual world in back of, underneath, and throughout the material world.
Moyers, with his Moon at 5° Aries 59', with his Midheaven 29° Scorpio 23', qualifies as the ideal American journalist and public commentator to interview Joseph Campbell. Moyers served as White House Press Secretary in the Johnson Administration from 1965-67. Since 1990, he has been President of the Schumann Center for Media and Democracy.
